The Occult

Virtually everything we know today was occult only a few years ago.

Occult conjures up a very uncomfortable feeling for many who have never bothered to check their dictionary. Simply put it means something that is unknown to someone. Auto mechanics is occult to a brain surgeon as is flight to a turtle. The reason for elaborating the word and subject is to explain how we have been cheated from a large body of knowledge and a complete understanding of how it applies to our health and well being.

The power of what was held in trust by the shamans, priests and healers of the past was and is the most powerful knowledge ever acquired by man. The true potential lies in its ability to heal or damage others and must only be possessed by fully responsible individuals. Such individuals who acquire a partial knowledge are unquestionably as irresponsible as a child with a loaded gun; yet, with full knowledge can do no harm.

To the uninitiated every aspect of every endeavor is an unknown until it is learned and understood. From that moment on it is accepted and utilized beneficially except in the hands of the irresponsible. To accept what we don't know as something yet to be learned is the way of all schools and life. On the path to true knowledge and wisdom all things must be understood and proper use must be discerned. The old adage of killing what we don't understand could well be updated to not understanding what we think we understand.

If one has come to know anything, it is the process of knowing what was formerly unknown, therefore we are all practicing occultism. A parallel could be equated with what some refer to as the original sin, that of acquiring knowledge. The only wrong thing with the possession of any knowledge is in its misuse.

In this world we have the choice of learning everything or unlearning everything we have learned. In either case we win.
