The science of psychology as we are familiar with is only about a hundred years old. Historically it was always understood by many that our mind and our spirit was not something separate but a composite. The modern view that disregarded this fact, has led down a path of promise that proved futile until very recently. Eventually it was discovered by some that without this connection there can never be any real healing accomplished utilizing the mind alone. Concepts, how we perceive things, overlooking information that is right in front of us and how we are deceived by the way we are conditioned might be illustrated with this brief example, the authorship is unknown. Please do not cheat. Read the following as you normally would. There are no tricks or deceptions for this test.

The demands in today's world upon the human mind pushes the capacity requirements of the human far beyond the limits placed upon it ever before. The sheer volume of information overload and stimulations encountered on a daily basis is staggering. The insidious part of our daily environment and tasks we encounter is all seen as perfectly normal, today is far from normal. The experience of driving a car across Dallas could easily compress an equivalent sensory input and stress of driving a covered wagon across the unsettled wild west for a year. A week of television could imprint as much visual and emotional information as an entire lifetime of only a few decades ago. The typical scenario of analysis is dissecting ones past in order to discover a cause for the problem, to find a villain to blame and to then apply a forgiveness placebo. In the real world any solution derived in this manner hardly ever produces a permanent fix. Several problems occur with this traditional approach, most all deep problems are formed in childhood, the child's perceptions and perspectives are not exact, the scenario is out of proportion, much of the scenario is mixed with the child's fantasy and various emotional terrors which have little to do with the actualized reality. The instigator of most childhood adversarial encounters is the child themselves, the parent in most cases is only reactionary; so who is to blame. The forgiveness illusion fails because it affords no satisfaction, in most cases the adult/child still wants the childish revenge, vendetta, pound of flesh or even to kill the offending parent. The paradox created by any physical/mental trauma carried from childhood to adulthood becomes an insoluble problem because there can never be an adequate resolution. Once any action takes place it simply cannot be undone. Mentally all the conditions can become understood, the blame assigned and even forgiven but the event still happened. The only true healing begins with the realization that the anguish and hurt is based completely in the Will, the person chooses to use their will in an attempt to change, alter or eliminate a past event that cannot be changed. The only option anyone has is to fully realize the futility of their willful consciousness and completely release it, as long as it is exercised it retains complete authority and power over them. If the event in the past is not released, its power to hurt and control me follows eternally. |
