Choice, what a neglected and over looked little word that has so many staggering implications. Most people spend their entire lives making all their decisions based on what someone else has told them they should do, on what they think they should do based on bad information or on what they merely feel like doing. The choices executed based on any of these parameters are ultimately causing most of mankinds greatest problems. There is basically one empirical test that should be applied to all choices, whatever choice is made it must harm no thing. It is starting to even be seen how our choices are affecting things even on a global scale. We ignore the simplest of choices we make everyday which have an immediate effect on everyone around us and ourselves. The imperative that must be understood is that we are responsible for ourselves, as long as we can blame someone else or some thing we can excuse anything. One of the most insidious things that robs spirit is that of institutional or organizational control over the individual. When any person acting against their conscience or spirit because of any other individual or group, the result can create many negative consequences. If the instructions or orders are not beneficial to Everyone you are going to wind up losing. Another Native American Shaman passed this bit of Indian philosophy along, When another asks you to do something even if it makes sense and yet it doesn't feel right in your gut or in your heart, fold your arms and say, "Me no want to". Many times so much of what we do is something we do for others who simply don't want to take the time and trouble to do it themselves. In our nice guy people pleasing we spend too much time walking someone else's path instead of our own. Give yourself permission to say no, with no apologies or reasons. Learning to claim your power to make your own decisions and becoming completely responsible for them is the beginning of change for all. |
